What is Google’s new tool you ask? It’s name is RankBrain and it makes SEO work a little more complex.
Complex might be the perfect word to describe Google’s new tool. Rankbrain searches for keywords, but this tool also looks at not just the content on your website but the context of your content. RankBrain looks at CTR (click thru rate) or how many times people click on your site and Dwell Time, how long people stay on your site, the best Dwell Time being in the average of 3 minutes.So if your website has keyword rich content but it’s not very interesting (or comlex) people won’t hang in there to read it. So your content needs to be interesting and informative.
To keep people clicking on your site, your snippet and meta description needs to be interesting and eye catching. A good way to do this is utilize a LSI (latent semantic indexing).These being keywords that mean the same thing to describe your content and what information your content conveys.Google’s RankBrain wants specifics about your content for indexing. Google’s LSI Generator is a great tool to utilize to find LSI words related to your topic. Where do you use LSI’s? Use LSI’s in meta descriptions,title tags, image alt tags,in headers and your first paragraph.
Choose your delivery. You can choose between short tail keywords or long tail keywords.This choice actually depends on what CTR (click thru rate) you desire.
Short tail keywords contain less than three words and usually demand higher CTR’s monthly. That sounds great right? Long tail keywords consist of more than three words. You can use long tail keywords to get the attention of your target audience and thet will usually lead to longer Dwell Time on your website because your long tail keywords were specific and they clicked to your site with specific intent.And in E-commerce target audiences with specific intent usually results in sales.
